I just bought this to run for my first session of Mausritter and I'm excited to try it out! But I've got one question:
What sort of things would result in filling a usage dot on the Sweet Tooth Idol? I couldn't see anything in the adventure about using it... Thanks in advance!
All items have usage dots regardless of whether they have a specific rule around it. If the players find a use for the item that might damage or deplete it, it might be appropriate to mark usage.
This is a great introductory adventure for Mausritter. I ran it as the first session for our table and it was a lot of fun and easy to use. I posted a #play-report in the Mausritter discord if anyone is interested in seeing how it went for us. (You should be able to search my username to find it)
I bought the box set from Exalted Funeral and it came with PDFs of everything but this. Is there a way to get the PDF for this, or do I have to pay for it separately?
Is this supposed to be played in theatre of the mind? The rulebook implies mausritter should be played with battlemaps since it mentions grids, however HitR only comes with the regional map. Have you come across troubles playing this game without a map, or how did you make your maps?
Theater of the mind. You could group Player mice and NPCs by close, near and far. Close is melee range, Near is ranged weapon fire, and Far is ranged weapon at a penalty or not at all. It takes one turn of movement to move between these zones.
As for sugar cultists harvesting honey, it's left open to the Gamemaster to decide. It's good that you are thinking about these things, so you have answers for the players and if not, you have a logical world playing out before their (theatre of the mind) eyes.
I'm already on that Discord. I didn't realise this adventure was made by the same person that did Mausritter itself! :) I guess paying for this is a good way to donate for such an excellent (and free) system.
I know how helpful and active you are over on your Discord server, as I've seen it myself, but there are a few questions here from other people who look like they've bought the product, are seeking help, and didn't know to ask on Discord :)
Hey, love your game, my first OSR system, played it with my 75 year old parents, their first rpg, and had a blast. I was a little soft on them but tomorrow playing with my regular group, and won't so gentle heh.
But how does swarm attack on the bees work? It's lower damage then the sting, so beyond flavour..it seems to serve no stated purpose.
Are there rules for a swarm or mob of enemies I missed?
I just GMed this and we had a ton of fun. There are several directions players can go to beat it. At times I wished for more details, especially about the enemies and curses, but we managed well (especially since it was my first time GMing Mausritter or an OSR game)
Highly recommended and a great inspiration for coming up with further adventures.
Honey In The Rafters is an adventure for Mausritter---a 24 page clever boil-down of That One d20 Game That Everyone Knows.
HitR, like Mausritter, has extremely strong art and layout. It also packs in a lot of content in for a three page adventure, with new monsters, new spells, new items, a table of curses, etc. The dungeon itself is a one-page affair, with rules text overlaid on the art, and it looks great. An advantage of Mausritter is that you can basically take any normal human-sized structure and it becomes a cyclopean megaruin for mice, and HitR uses this to great effect.
If you like sword and sorcery ttrpgs, and OSR, and extremely good layout, and probably also mice, I'd strongly recommend following the link from the page text and checking out Mausritter if you haven't already. And if you already have Mausritter and you're looking for a one-shot or a convention game or just a simple but flavorful scenario to run in between your own content, Honey In The Rafters is absolutely worth picking up.
Just picked this up, what a perfect little adventure! This will slot in excellently into my current campaign as one of the PCs run a beekeeper! Very evocative and well designed. Straightforward and elegant much like the core rules. Definitely recommend picking it up!
I bought this straight away last night as I was looking for some advice on running the game here in /osr. It is really nice to see a location detailed in this way, gives me a better idea of how to run my own game.
I'll probably use this module as a second or third adventure location. I'm keen to run through my own creations first to see how they fly.
In theory it can work with any RPG, especially an OSR or mouse-based one. But it's intended to be run with Mausritter, which is lucky, as the rules for that are free!

Got it, thank you! Thought I might have been missing something more specific.

I just bought the box set. Is there any way to have access to the unlabelled map, without having to repay for the module?
Same!

Also, how do the sugar cultists collect honey? The book mentions the use of buckets but it's not clear.

Thoroughly enjoyed this adventure! It has great characters, a rich story, and some neat features that set it apart from other Mausritter modules.
I was thinking of buying this, but you haven't replied to any of the comments on this page, which has put me off.
Hey, please feel free to pop into the Mausritter discord where I’m happy to field any questions you’ve got: https://discord.gg/v4wmKsv

Cheers!
Waaaaaay too late of a reply but I think the swarm rules are for warband-scale enemies.
E.g. if the bees were to attack Shig the Skunk.
Hey, love your stuff! Could you add a way to print each page individually pretty please?

Really looking forward to trying this! Want to do a oneshot while our regular DM is busy with other stuff.
I cant open it though, I bought it through the Bundle for Racial Justice and Equality, but i cant seem to select the pdf
Nevermind i found out how to open it. I think we are going to enjoy it very much!

Want to buy this, but want to buy the rules too to go with it!
When are the rules going to be reprinted?
i second this!
I believe the pdf is free on itch
